Prestwick is one of the many airports which can be found in Scotland. Travelling times into Glasgow are around 40 minutes by car and just under an hour by train which has a direct link to the airport. There are only a small number of agencies within the airport so booking in advance is advisable.
Most of the visitors head north to the nearest city which is Glasgow. Try heading south instead for a relaxing holiday along the A77 and stopping off at any one of the seaside resorts along the west perhaps Maybole, Ayr, Irvine. Lots of interesting stop overs.
A lovely seaside town along this route is Ayr. The journey is fairly quick at around 20 minutes from Prestwick and with lots of shops and restaurants around the area. This is a perfect spot to stop off and look for those souvenirs for your friends and family.
Girvan is about 45 minutes by car from the airport and around 30 miles travelling . This is a lovely sleepy seaside town to visit with local shops selling Scottish local products with the are surrounded by a lovely sandy beach and small harbour. The best fish and chip shop is located by the harbour next to the amusement arcade which is unusual in that the owners cook your meal while you wait.
Just a short drive away from here will lead you into the famous golf course called Turnbury. Play a round of golf or have a few snaps of you standing at the club house before your cream tea is an ideal holiday reminder of your time along the west coast.
National sites throughout Scotland include many in the area south of Prestwick. You can stop and take photographs or spend some time on the sites looking over the history which surrounds the building in Culzean or other Robbie sites.
