Budget Travelling Tips

By Poppy Hill

Cheap travel does not necessary mean that you travel in the back of a lorry or by hitch hiking. Canny travellers will find a way of reducing their costs by searching around for the best deals which may include half price plane tickets. Don't tell the other passengers they may be jealous.

Meeting new holiday makers or perhaps travelling on your own to a new country either way have you thought about booking yourself into a travel hostel. They are not what they were years ago and have came along way since 20 or 30 years ago.

Renting a car is an ideal way of travelling around and would work out inexpensive if there are a few of you travelling together heading in the same direction. Alternatively there are good bus and train systems available you may perhaps consider using any one of them.

Thinking of two ways of getting to your destination fairly cheaply and they would be either to vamp up your plans and make them a lot more entertaining or find a good website which offers cheap deals.

Have you considered staying mid way to your final destination. Often long haul flights generate a stop for a few hours in an airport about half way or two thirds of the way to your holiday destination. Search the web for cheap flights to both the end journey and stopping mid way at another spot to split the journey up. You will be amazed at the amount of money you will be able to save even although you are booking two flights and having to spend a night in a hotel. The added bonus is seeing another city going and changing your stop over on the return flight.

One of the tips a good friend said to me was to have your bag packed during the winter and any good deals head south for the winter and enjoy the sun for a few weeks or a couple of months if you can take your work with you even better if you are retired. Sometimes the winter resorts will offer good deals on a 28 or 56 day rate which will work out cheaper than staying for a 1 week in the summer at the same resort. This will also save you on fuel bills back home by being away for the winter.

Don't follow the crowd instead go in the opposite direction and save money. New horizons beckon when thinking of a vacation and steer away from the flock by thinking outside the box. Hip and upcoming places are always expensive instead think of places where no or few visitors think of going or places where they may be hosting events in the future and are starting to plan ahead by refurbishing now and offering good deals.

Staying with friends or family is a great way of saving on accommodation but also travelling cheaply is by doing what the locals do and travelling on the local transport will save you lots of money rather than paying for taxis all the time. Hopefully you enjoy your holiday and the tips.
