Holiday And Kids Free Ways To Keep Them Busy

By Francis Mitchell

Keeping the kids amused in the summer holidays is hard going. Without braking the bank there are lots of fun and free to visit during the holidays which doesn't break the bank.

Relaxing in your home town is a perfect antidote for the parents who don't enjoy leaving home for 2 weeks vacations. There will be plenty to see on your door step which won't break the bank ad cost you lots of money.

Have you considered museums as an event for your day trips. People think of museums as boring and often stuffy but they have came along way now trying to engage their public back into them. They are opened each day during normal office hours so you have no excuse if it is raining.

Plan a fortnight's worth of trips for each day by enlisting the help of your young charges. You may be surprised by what they come up with and also the level of interest in museums.

The larger well known museums are considered the best to visit due to the higher turn over of exhibits and the free car parking which is often the way with larger museums due to their financing. The small museums receive less funding than the larger ones and often charge their patrons for little extras which may not be the same as the larger ones. Always check your local paper for discounts or special offers which may occur every now and then in the summer.

When arranging museum visits think about how the children will be entertained while you are there. Sometimes during the school holidays there are programmes running on a daily basis which will keep them amused while enjoying the museum at the same time.

Before you travel always check the times of opening for the museum you are heading too as this will prevent any disappointment upon arrival. There are also swimming pools and parks which offer summer programmes perhaps also music lessons in your area.

A good saving tip is to pack something to eat for everyone. You can then stop off at a nearby sight seeing spot and enjoy your lunch. A good also is too pack some treats for everyone for later such as a hot chocolate or chips.
