UK Car Hire Savings

By Francis Mitchell

Holiday makers tend to forget the little things which mount up on your car hire without you thinking about it other than the rental costs. Ask yourself if you can do without the following in your rental.

Hiring Baby Seats Any renter who has travelled with young children will know all that is involved and what is needed to bring with them on holiday. Laws vary from country to country but here in the UK all children under 13500mm require to be fitted with a belt and seat where possible for their safety. There are a number of different seats to rent when hiring a car from a baby to booster cushion seat. The question to ask yourself is do you need to rent one or can you bring your own with you from the house? You could save yourself around 20 plus each day by bringing your own.

Extra Drivers Most car journeys in the UK will only require 1 driver at most stages in the journeys as long drives are out of the question in the UK unless you decide to travel from John Groats to Lands End in one day. The average journey will only last 2 possibly 3 hours which can be driven in one go by one driver thus cutting out the cost of an additional driver saving your the additional driver's fee which worked out about 10 each day or more depending on which rental company you use.

Car Hire Insurance Policies Every renters nightmare when its comes to renting out a van or car from an outlet. Do I need to purchase an insurance policy or can I do without? There are several options for you on this point and the first one is to say no to any policy and just pay for the rental costs. If this is your choice then be prepared to lose your excess deposit in the event of a car accident. An option if you do your homework is to buy an insurance policy from staff when you arrive into the depot. They can explain the various policies on display and work out the best one for your journey. The staff are then given a commission for each sale they make. Lastly purchase your own copy of an insurance policy from an outsider and give them the commission any problems with damage and you can reclaim back similar to a normal insurance broker.

Three options where you can save money on your car hire. Which you can then spend on your holiday treating yourself to something new or a nice meal.
